Picture #4
-------
Once upon a time there was a castle near an ocean. The castle was built to protect a princess from falling into the wrong hands of a general in the country beside the kingdom. Stefan, the general from the neighboring country, was after the princess because he knew if he was able to capture and marry her then when her father, King Jeremy, died he would become the new King respectively and would be able to destroy the kingdom and extract its wonderful qualities in lieu of his country, since the Princess was King Jeremy’s only heir. King Jeremy had spies working for Stefan, and once he found out of this plan, he rushed to his most trusted advisor, a wizard, to figure out how to protect the princess. So the wizard built the castle in a remote place near the ocean and enchanted it to protect the princess. In his enchantment, during the day, the castle appeared abandoned and empty. When the moon rose out above the ocean, the castle would come alive and the princess and her servants would be able to live out their days. As long as no one found the castle during the night, they could never find the princess. The only way this spell could be broken was if the princess had a marriage proposal from a man.
For sixteen years the princess lived her life in this manner.
One day a man named James, who was an explorer, came near to the castle. He had been scouting out new places to begin new villages, since the kingdom’s population was growing rapidly and soon there would need to be new settlements. King Jeremy and the wizard had been careful to keep this section of the kingdom off maps and known to men, but James had gotten lost from his camp a week ago and had already eaten and drank all of the food and water he had brought with him. He was desperate for somewhere to stay, and the sky was getting dark; it would soon storm. He had been wandering for a while now and had been trying to map out just where he was when came across the abandoned castle. Maybe someone would be here and had a meal he could eat!
He climbed through the wilderness and into the castle. He was disappointed to find it empty; it looked like it had not been lived in for years. Soon after looking around the rain set in and he decided to stay for the night. He found himself a blanket in a cabinet, started a fire, and soon fell asleep.
The sun went down and the moon came up across the ocean.
The castle burst back into life. It wasn’t long before one of the female servants found James and ran up to tell the princess. The princess, excited by the prospect of a handsome man in her castle, ran down the stairs to see him. They have a deep conversation, and he quickly fell for the princess. However, she told him she couldn’t leave the castle. She’s never known why but she physically can’t leave the castle property. He promised her to find a way to help her escape the castle and leaved before sunrise.
Once he came across a few towns, he began to ask around for advice. In one town in an old tavern, he told his story of a princess confined to a castle, never to leave. It just happened that Stefan was drinking in this tavern and he quickly went to James’s side, and, after volunteering to pay for his bill at the inn for the night, convinced James to lead him to the castle. Smiling slyly to himself, Stefan excused himself for the night and went to plan out his execution of capturing the princess. As James walked out of the tavern to go to sleep, the owner slipped him a ring, informing him mysteriously he might need it.
So James lead Stefan to the castle. As soon as they arrived, Stefan asked James to go in front of him since he knew the way through the vegetation. As James walked ahead, Stefan grabbed a large tree limb off the ground and hit James hard across the head. With James unconscious, he rushed towards the castle and waited for nightfall.
James awoke right as the moon came up over the ocean. Knowing he had been tricked, he ran as fast as he could to save his princess. He snuck into the castle quietly and watched as the general informed the princess of his devious plan. He soon left to force the servants to making a feast in celebration of his plan finally being achieved after sixteen years. James rushed in to the princess as soon as she was gone, and after quick words of love and encouragement, devised a plan with her to defeat Stefan. He then went back to hide in his previous place.
When Stefan returned, the princess asked him to accompany her onto her balcony. They talked for a little while, and soon she leaned over and pointed at something. He did the same and James ran as quickly as he could to shove Stefan over the balcony and into the wilderness below. After a short struggle, James won victorious.
However, they soon discovered she still could not leave the castle. The sun began to rise and the princess disappeared for the day. James spent most of the day thinking about what he could do to help the princess. He watched on the balcony as the sun went down and the moon came up across the horizon. She came to him immediately. They tried to leave again, but she still couldn’t leave. He put his hand in a pocket as she left to tell her servants to make a meal and quickly ran after her. He declared his love for her, telling her he would stay here with her forever, and proposed to her with the ring. She accepted and the spell was broken! They soon figured this out as the sun came up and she was still standing there in front of him, along with her servants and the meal they had prepared. They ate and left to meet King Jeremy, who was glad to have his daughter back and was even happier when he heard that Stefan was finally defeated. The happy couple were married and one day became king and queen themselves.
