Assignments and Grading
Assignments
The Fairy Tales class is a full-year class with monthly lessons. Homework will accompany these lessons, with the midterm and final exam counting for more points. To pass the class, you MUST earn a total of 200 points from homework/extra credit for the entire year—100 points for each term if you want a quill on either term.
The homework will follow the outline: (a) 10 short answer questions, where everything you need is found in the lesson—which costs 20 points—and (b) a variety of different questions pertaining to fairy tales—which makes a total of 10 points. Extra credit will ALWAYS be different and will require a bit more artistry/brain cells, so don’t expect the same thing every month *g*. Points are awarded for extra credit as indicated.
All assignments should be sent to [email protected]. If there are any questions, you can contact either me (Prof. Cassandra Lobiesk) or my assistant (currently Zoki Phantom), or you can always send them to the class email.
Late Assignments
All assignments will usually be due at the end of each month, so plan accordingly. If you know you’ll be submitting homework late, just let me know. I know how RL can be busy (I know it will be for me!), but I’m sure a short little email letting me know what’s up will do the trick. If you ask for an extension, you have until the end of the next month to get the extension in to me. However, if you don’t hand in your extension at that time, I will not be giving any more extensions after that.
Quills and Grading
Two quills will be awarded for the entire course. The first quill will be given after students finish 100 points’ worth of assignments (this includes extra credit). The second quill will be given after completing the second term with another 100 points. You will pass the class if you finish with 200 points and have completed the midterm or the final.
Grades will be done in the following manner:
Outstanding – 500+ points
Exceeds Expectations – 300-499 points
Acceptable – 210-299 points
Poor – 120-209 points
Dreadful – 30-119 points
Troll – 1-29 points
Awards will be given to the top earners for each house.
As a reminder, Fairy Tales is an HOL-affiliated class, and thus all HOL Rules apply. Please respect your fellow colleagues as well as the assistant and me. All announcements will go up in the class discussion board and/or sent to you via HOL message. New lessons are scheduled to be updated at the first of each month, but please keep in mind that things happen and that my assistant and I are busybees RL-wise as well, so if you’re wondering where the next lesson is, chances are we just don’t have time at the moment to update and will do so as soon as we can breathe. *nods*
